Delta Dome Overtravel Monitor

• Available in two forms: as a portable setup tool, where one unit can be used throughout the plant, or as a permanent installation on every bodymaker of the line.

• Each unit consists of a non-contact sensor, a bracket to suit the particular type of dome station, a small USB interface box and the Delta Dome software (also a small touch-screen panel-mount computer for the permanent installation option).

• Suitable for Pride and CMB Micro-domers. Please enquire about other dome station designs.

• Software can be loaded onto existing computers. Can also be loaded onto different computers, e.g. user’s own laptops, making it even more portable.

• For the permanent installation option, outputs can be read by the bodymaker PLC to give protection from high/low overtravel and also double dome protection.

• Dome overtravel is measured on every stroke and the display is instantly updated. The last 100,000 overtravel measurements are held in memory for analysis should this be required. This historical trend data is displayed on screen.

• Units can be selected as inches, thousandths of an inch, or mm.

• The overtravel profile (an oscilloscope type view of the overtravel distance during a single stroke) can also be analysed.  This can be useful for checking that the dome station is functioning correctly.

Correctly set dome overtravel is essential for consistent dome depth. It also affects the forces passing through the drive chain and, if incorrectly set, can result in premature component failure and bodymaker breakdown.

Changes in overtravel can be an early sign of bodymaker faults, which if detected in time can be fixed before leading to more serious problems.
